The leash is woven in the kumihimo style with 1.5mm satin rattail cord.  This a 5ft long leash that measures 1/4 inch wide with a 2 1/4  inch chrome snap hook.  The handle is secured with several square knots and  decorative beads.  E6000 glue has also been used to make the handle even more secure.  In my opinion E6000  is one of the BEST glues on the market and believe you me this handle is not coming unraveled.
